Your Representatives

The new stadium requires support from all the political parties. Before the 2010 General Election we invited prospective parliamentary candidates for both of the city’s constituencies to state their views on the issue.

Congratulations to Julian Sturdy and Hugh Bayley for winning their respective seats. We hope that they fulfil their pledge to do everything possible to ensure a new stadium is built.

Other candidates who pledged their support include James Alexander, now leader of the Labour group on the City of York council, in addition to Madeleine Kirk and Christian Vassie who continue to be Lib Dem councillors. We hope that they remain committed to the project at local government level.

York Central – Includes Acomb, Clifton, Guildhall, Heworth, Holgate, Hull Road, Micklegate and Westfield

I have just emailed Andy Chase of the Green Party to ask for his opinion on the urgency of finding a site and building such a stadium. I will keep you posted.

I emailed them a few weeks back and got a positive response. So if they say anything different – I’ll want to know why!
